Getting Here
By Air:
Since our cabins are situated halfway between the towns of Östersund and Sundsvall it really doesn't make much difference which airport you choose to fly into.
Both have several connections/day with Stockholm Arlanda Airport (to which most major international airlines fly, including SAS, KLM and British Airways). The main domestic airline in Sweden is SAS although there are several others connecting both Östersund and Sundsvall with Stockholm. We will be happy to provide you with a transfer from either Östersund or Sundsvall at an additional charge although the best option is to rent a car directly from the airport through one of the major firms, i.e. Avis, Hertz or Europcar, since it is essential to have access to a car when you are staying in this region.
By Rail:
Sweden has an extensive rail network and a very reliable train service indeed. SJ are the people to contact for train tickets and information.
We will be happy to pick you up from either Sundsvall, Östersund or Bräcke should you require a transfer although once again, we strongly recommend our guests to rent a car upon arrival since the public transport system isn't as extensive here as it is in the major cities.
By Road:
Driving in this part of the world is never a problem and is a very pleasant experience indeed thanks to the surrounding beautiful scenery.
The roads are all in excellent condition and are normally not very busy at all. There are several possible routes depending on your entry point into Sweden:
From Stockholm: Follow the E4 highway up to Sundsvall (roughly 500 km) and then take road 86 towards Bispgården, followed by road 87 towards Hammarstrand.
From Gothenburg: Take road E45 (often referred to as the Inland Road) from Gothenburg to Östersund (roughly 800 km) and then take road 87 to Hammarstrand (another 100 km).
From Malmö: You can either drive to Helsingborg and take the E4 all the way to Sundsvall (this route will take you through Stockholm) and then road 86. followed by 87, or take the E6 to Gothenburg and then follow the E45 to Östersund and then the 87 to Hammarstrand.
