Winter Adventures

All the activities and excursions listed on this site (with the exception of river-rafting on the Ammerån River during spring, which is arranged through Ammeråns Fiskecamp) are arranged through authorised wilderness-guide and bushcraft expert, Geerd de Koning. Obviously Sweden Adventures is happy to assist its guests in booking activities and excursions but accepts no responsibility since they are arranged and carried out by a third party.

Downhill Skiing

Both our cabins have direct access to the lift, i.e. you can ski down to the lift in the morning and back down to the front door in the evening. There are 2 red slopes, 1 blueThe ski lift 300 metres from our cabins slope and 1 green slope and the highest point is 415 metres above sea level. The main difference between skiing/snowboarding here and in other places is that most of the time you practically have the slopes to yourself. There is never a queue for the lift consisting of more than a few people, allowing you to get the most out of your day. Lift passes are available from the café next to the lift. Please contact us if you require lessons/equipment rental since these are arranged through a third party.

Cross Country Skiing

The cabins have direct access to over 15 kilometres of cross country skiing tracks and trails suitable for beginners as well as advanced skiers. Head out and fill your lungs with the clean, unspoiled air. Enjoy a refreshing shower and a drink in the cabin afterwards and feel completely rejuvenated. Maps are available through the local tourist information centre.

Snowmobile Excursions

An absolute must for anyone visiting Northern Sweden during the wintertime! The snowmobile is a very popular mode of transport during theThere are miles and miles of beautiful snowmobile trails in the area, all directly accessible from our cabins winter months in this part of the world and is invaluable as far as getting you close to nature is concerned. It allows us to access forests, lakes, rivers and mountains far off the beaten track that are simply not accessible by car. There are several possibilities as far as snowmobile excursions go, all of which follow scenic and well maintained trails and can be combined with other activities, such as ice fishing etc. Please ask us for more information regarding snowmobile excursions as these are arranged through a third party.

Snowshoe Hiking

A slightly more physically demanding activity but also very rewarding. A guide will take you on a scenic route, along which you will more than likely encounter animal/bird tracks. The chances of spotting wild animals including elk are good too so bring your camera! There are several different hikes available, ranging from short walks lasting a couple of hours to full–day excursions including lunch and dinner (prepared in the wild). Dog Sledding

Dog sledding in this area is nothing short of fantastic. This is a truly unique modeDog sledding of transport and an experience that can only be described as magical. Take a dog sledding excursion and be prepared for something completely different. As the sled swiftly glides through the dense forests you will feel as if you are a million miles away from anywhere. Ice Skating

Ice skating enthusiasts will want to visit the town of Östersund, about an hour’s drive to the west of the cabins. Östersund is situated on the banks of Lake Storsjön, Sweden’s fifth largest lake. Each winter, miles and miles of ice skating tracks are prepared on the lake for everyone to enjoy – for free. Breathe the clean, unpolluted air, enjoy the wide open spaces, the fantastic view of the snow covered peaks to the west and, most of all, enjoy unrivalled ice skating without queues and crowds. Regardless of whether you’re a professional speed skater or just looking for a fun family day out – you won’t want to miss this!

Wildlife Watching

The same as the other seasons only this time it's in the snow. A trained guide will take you through the wilderness either Experience the silent beauty of winter (photo courtesy of Lars Engström, Stugun)on cross country skis or snowshoes. Enjoy the beauty and silence of winter as you track and observe various species. Once again - don't forget your camera! Horseback Riding

A great way to get close to nature and experience the natural beauty of Jämtland! There are several different (guided) excursions available. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or experienced, travelling through the forests of Jämtland on horseback is an experience you won’t forget in a hurry!
